I know this happened to someone on oppo here a long while back, but i cant remember who. But this guy from my psych class came to my place of work to apply. So the next class day i made small talk about it. Afterwards he mentioned he needed some notes and he asked for my cell#. Blindly i said sure. Now i get a text "come to this meeting. Its for a really great business opportunity man"......

Kinja'd!!!

Ive been down this path before. A few people have come into my work as "customers" then they give me a business card, and act all suave, and they tell you to call them for a job opportunity. I gave the first 2 a try, and after those two, i aint getting fooled again. Im sure you all know what those guys are doing. They are recruiters for their big 'company' yadadada.

He tells me in the text, "oh i didnt need that job at your store". And you guessed it, he didnt need any homework either. I aint giving him any notes even if he needs em now. In a way, hes lied. Moreso deceived. But still.

I dont think im gonna start an argument with him, but im hoping he doesnt get all offended when i tell him no, and wont make a scene in class....

Just brush him off. If he's been at this a while, he's been rejected 20,000 times. He's use to it.

It's just like Amway, JH's, door to door vacuum salesmen, etc. Rejection is an everyday thing.

I know a dude who recently got sucked into scamway, it's his life now. I despise it. Never liked the guy too much anyways, though.

This happened recently to me - some random dude asked if I knew him, said he recognized me from somewhere. Blah, blah, blah in business with my wife blah blah social networking blah blah capital blah. A few minutes later he and I exchanged numbers and I haven't returned any calls. Just ignore it.

Happened to me, too. Last year, a guy on my soccer team heard I'd gotten a new job, and asked me for one of my business cards. I didn't think too much of it, and happily obliged. Next thing I know, he's spamming me with emails and voicemails telling me to come to some meeting at the Comfort Inn to discuss a "great opportunity" to invest in some energy drink he was shilling. I felt violated, and couldn't even talk to him about it because he stopped showing up to games. It went on for awhile, unfortunately.

The next time he says something with a total straight face just say, "Look man...I don't know how I'm gonna eat soup without an envelope." He will say what? And again with a straight face and totally serious. "Yeah...you know things are just weird now, and I dunno how I'm gonna eat soup without an envelope." He will be totally confused, and then you go "Exactly." And just walk away. He will never bother you again.

You tell him to fuck off in as polite or as vulgar a manner as you desire. From experience I can tell you if you're not firm they'll never leave you alone.

i learned that from the first two guys... They kept interrogating why i didnt show up, why im changing my mind. How i was throwing my life away. How i wont make any money. they hit me with all they had im sure. You gotta be stern with them. They are pretty ignorant.

Or you can turn the tables and say...hey I got an opportunity for you...I got this friend right who works out of his garage he makes...you know "medicine" it's totally legit man. He just needs someone for deliveries. The pay is good...real good. You just gotta be able to handle yourself if things get rough and keep quiet. You can do that right? You should totally meet my friend...well he is...uh "away" right now...but when he gets out...I mean back, we can talk.

I've had a few random texts recently from some numbers that I didn't recognize telling me to go to the comfort inn, or dinner party at some place everybody's going to be there, and the weirdest being help I've just been kidnaped I'm at some place. WTF is wrong with people?

This could work. I just found this massive heavy duty special metal shipping case in my works dumpster today. Kinda like a luggage thing, but heavy duty. And it looks exactly like the cases they use in the movies to hold dru.... .....i mean...., medicine!!

Tell him you're not interested.

Story time,

I have a rental property, it used to be my house, my wife's sister 4 year old son, & boyfriend live there now. I put a No Solicitation sticker from the hardware store next to front door when I lived there. I get a call though from time to time from door to door salesmen when they ask her to call the owner. So I tell the guy right off I'm not really interested, but he says, blah blah and goes through his spiel anyway about replacing the roof after recent storm, and waive the deductible and no cost to me. Then when he says what do you think about that, and when would you like to.... Well I'm not interested, and I hear him saying to my sister in-law, "oh wow after all that I can't believe it, blah blah..." Then I told her I told him I wasn't interested from the get go.

I also got a call recently from a guy I know and work with his brother. Cutco knives, I'd like to come do a demonstration, ..(more words)... when can I come out? No Thanks, not interested. OK.

I then get a call a couple days later, Hi I'm Blah, Mike told me you might be interested in a opportunity selling Cutco knives... Blah blah, Let me get some information. Uhh, No I have a full time Union job and working 60+ hours a week that I am leaving for right now, I don't need it.

Thanks for listening, here some Chevy hub caps from my CL

I know these guys are salesman and human beings just like us. But heck, im a salesman too. I may only sell clothing and shoes. But i know when to stop pestering a customer. I know within the first 10 seconds whether there is any chance or not. These guys are very delusional. OR desperate. Probably both. They put so much energy into wasted confrontations, that im sure they could have found a better use of their time, but the people brainwashing them have already taken control and have hooked them on their line.

ALso... i see what you did there with those hubcaps... You sneaky you.

I like those hubcaps. But i can only do a trade. If you can add some cash, ill trade you a 1979 mazda rx7 with 35K miles.... =P
